Difficult situation, but if you have dogs it's better to learn to live with it. There are far too many people calling dog wardens and it only gives townships more reasons to enact restrictive dog legislation, which will affect everyone. When we moved to Florida, we had three German Shepherds and our neighbors had three small- to medium-size dogs. Both of us have fenced-in yards and swimming pools. My dogs go out in the backyard with us to play and do their business, but they are not allowed to bark their fool heads off; we clean up the yard everyday and sometimes twice a day. Our new neighbors, on the other hand, let their dogs out the front door to bark at everyone, run down the street unleashed and get lost. When they are in the backyard, they bark and howl -- at anything. And, they clean their yard about once a year or before they have company. We hate it as do our other neighbors. Nice people but unresponsible. BTW, their kids are just as bad. However, it has been close to four years and they are now friends. They watched us and try to keep their yard cleaned up with the promise if we are planning a BBQ or party or anything outdoors, just let them know and they will make sure their lawn is mowed and cleaned up. When we got a puppy that barked a little too much and thought she was queen shit, they just laughed. When we leave first thing in the morning and our dogs bark for a couple of minutes, they say don't worry. They never complain and we've learned to deal with their obnoxious dogs. In the meantime, I've helped them with dog training and health issues, and the husband came over the other day to help with an electrical problem in the house. He always takes out our recycle bins when he puts out his and brings them in when he gets home from work. When Sam came home from the hospital after having a knee replaced, his wife brought over dinner and it was enough for three delicious dinners. Our house is the "safe" house for their kids if anything ever happens and they are not home. Sometimes it all works out, if you give it a chance.
