WHY ads for free dogs, or any critters for that matter is just simply wrong

It's not the free ads that are wrong.... it's the dumping of dogs that's
wrong.... charging a fee isn't going to stop anyone from disposing of their
animal.... On the other hand, it will probably cause them (the cold hearted
tight wad), to dump the dog off at the Pound, SPCA or Rescue.
I still have my (gorgeous pick of the litter) *rescued 6 yr old male* that
the owners paid $1,000 for at 8 wks.... dumped him off at the SPCA.... If
it weren't for the SPCA calling me when they read my Sales Agreement, who
knows what would have happened to him? He spent 6 years of his life in a
garage on a huge estate because he could bark and protect expensive cars,
etc.. Money doesn't guarantee anything.... lots of cruel people with money
lie.
I wish there was a way of preventing the wrong people from obtaining dogs or
dumping dogs. Human babies being abused are removed from the household.
Unfortunately, removing the dogs from an abusive household just doesn't have
the same *sting*.... it's probably what they want anyway.
I've been thinking about this for quite sometime...... We have~~
dog licenses
kennel licenses
bylaws for breeders
... why not *owner* licenses.... You want a dog, you need to first get
licensed to own one before you can buy one. You pay the *dump fee* up front
It might make those impulse buyers do a U-turn... The number of puppies
looking for homes will slowly decline.... And, the *dumped dogs* will be
financed as the *dump fees* could be collected by the Rescue clubs. And,
these dogs would be free for the licensed owner.
