IT IS GETTING IMPOSSIBLE TO SHIP DOGS ALTOGETHER, ESPECIALLY IF THEY FLY AS
CHECKED BAGGAGE WITH OWNER ON THE FLIGHT!
I decided to have a look-see at the major airlines for myself regarding
shipping/flying with a dog:
from the Delta website:

Animals will not be accepted as checked baggage or cargo on any Delta
operated 767 aircraft. There are no exceptions to this restriction for any

Kennel guidelines for checked pets
When checking in your pet, there are specific requirements for their kennel:

Up to 40in x 27in x 30in or 102cm x 69cm x 76cm*

*Largest acceptable kennel is a series 500 kennel. This kennel is not
accepted on the Boeing 737, the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 (S80) or American
Eagle airplanes. Kennels checked on an MD-80 must be able to fit through
the cargo door whilst in an upright position.
The kennel cannot:

Kennel sizing chart for dogs and cats
*A* = Length of animal from nose to root of tail
*B* = Height from ground to elbow joint
*C* = Width across shoulders
*D* = Height of animal in a natural standing position from the top of the
head or the ear tip, whichever is higher. Note: your pet's head or ear
tips, whichever is higher, must not touch the top of the crate.
How to determine kennel size
*For travel within the 50 United States and Puerto Rico:*
Length = A + ½B
Width = C x 2
Height = D
I guess anyone who wants to fly just about to give up and trade in their
frequent flyer miles for an AAA card instead!

How darned hard is this for everyone to understand? You need the big
Boeing or Air Bus jets to take a 500+. They only fly from hubs/larger
airports.
