You all remember the infamous Veterinarian Dr. Barber from Tennessee who was
euthanizing animals via IC with no sedation? After racking up 22,000$ in fees
paid to him by the state for the animals he killed in this horrific method,
"Dr" Barber was videotaped undercover, and brought up on malpractice charges by
a jury of his peers. He was found to have committed malpractice, and the case
was going to court. At that point, all information on the case appeared to go
underground.
In their infinite wisdom (insert MAJOR sarcasm here), the AVMA has decided to
reinstate the "fine" Dr. They had ordered him to attend classes on humane
euthanization methods...the man is a VET...he is quite knowledgeable about the
level of pain he was causing with utilizing IC without sedating animals first.
This procedure is also STRICTLY against AVMA guidelines! Why did they choose to
allow this man to continue practicing when it is evident he has no concern for
the animals he purports to CARE for???
Much like the case of Hannah, whose owner appears untouchable by the legal
system and Senator Kent Williams, who STILL has not been cited for violating
the law of SC which states that ALL animals adopted from a shelter be
spayed/neutered within 30 days or a fine of 500$ could be levied; it appears
that the law is being applied in very different ways!
Just an aside....if you have a moment, read the AVMA Guidelines for Humane
Care...you might just be surprised at what you find. It reads like a Stephen
King novel....
