[ SHOWGSD-L ] military family GSD dog needing fostering until May

Hi All - Hope we can make a Christmas miracle for this family
Got a call tonight from a military wife asking for help finding foster or
boarding for her GSD. He waqs rescued in Germany about two years ago and was
nursed back to0 health by this family. The husband is in Japan and dogs
cannot be brought into the country. The wife has stayed in VA until about 4
months ago when her children entered college in Blacksburg VA. She boarded
two horses and found what she felt was an excellent kennel for Fritz. She
came home to spend Christmas with her kids and picked up the dog only to
find he weighed 59# (down from 85#). The kennel said he was depressed and
wouldn't eat however she took him to a vet who found multiple types of
worms. Vet does not believe the kennel's story and the dog has been treated.
The owner cannot find another kennel for less than $40 a day (she does not
want charity and will pay for the dog's expenses) and she cannot afford
that. She will be returning in May to stay and will take the dog back than.
She is willing to travel to place Fritz in a reliable situation. She says he
is obedient, good with other dogs (even small ankle biters) and looks very
much like the 1940's style shepherds.
Can anyone help or know of anyone who can help. I can help transport but
cannot foster (have 11 here now). She is only in the states for two weeks.
