[ SHOWGSD-L ] microchips

a while ago, there was a discussion on the list about microchips and
problems people had run into changing the name of the owner on some chips...
can anyone fill me in with details on this? i seem to remember reading
that one of the companies (Avid?) would not change the name associated
with the chip...
so whoever'd purchased the chips in the first place remained on the
books as the owner...........something like that.
