Great attitude there, Iza, and I agree with you.........I think the
problem these days, or maybe it always has been, that not all people
take their puppies out to show for fun..or even for experience--they
want to win! You know as well as any of us that most puppies aren't
ready to win over competitive adults, but people get discouraged when
their babies don't win...and they don't understand why they haven't, or
what "not ready" means.
Sometimes, but not often, a puppy is full of attitude, at full
"bloom" for the day, and the older dogs are not in condition, or bored,
or just not good ones, or even just having a bad day...so a puppy
wins........but there are fewer and fewer people who are happy with just
a "Best Puppy" or a compliment from a judge....they want to win. Also
there are those who can't afford to keep entering puppies over and over
again, when the competition is usually more "ready" to win.... the "fun"
aspect disappears quickly sometimes.
I used to enjoy taking a puppy out a few times, and then leaving it
home until it was really competitive...but I've always been one who
believes it isn't right to campaign a puppy. Not for me, anyway.
Nationals are a whole different thing...of course you should want to
show off your breeding, no matter the class! Bully for you to take
those three girls...I know you will enjoy seeing them in the ring,
trained or not...and you WILL have fun!
