In response to the big all breeds, and in response to the lack of majors at the
January all breed Curcuit in Florida, the specialty clubs here for the most
part have bundled their shows.
The January shows that Amy talked into coming together is 3 clubs and 6
shows. She even has time for Temperament Tests each year.
Miami and Ft Lauderdale are together now, and it has done wonders for both
clubs' entries.
There are a few clubs left in Florida that are alone, but the rest of us are
doing our best to support those clubs too.
Specialty clubs need to ban together to make one location and one long
weekend work for all. This way the expenses are cut down, and at least the
professional handlers like it.
It is more work in fewer days and this does take more effort in a smaller
space, but the reward is dog finishng, people coming together from further
afield. Last January was more like a mini National than just a bunch of shows.
Those clubs had people I had not met anywhere but at Nationals, and I don't go
to many. We even had people from Alaska in Florida!!!!!!! Best winter ever?
February had people from as far as Maine and Michigan. Not bad at all.
But now with AKC asking us all to do more, these small clubs are going to
have to be more active for a longer time during the year. It is not possible
anymore to just hold dog shows and othewise go on with our lives. Now, akc
hopes to increase activity through these new requirements, I can't say either
way if it will work. But it is worth a try.

Money is the root of all evil. Most people are not willing and do not have the
extra money to spend running all over showing dogs. I know a lot of people who
are tired of entering 2-3 dogs at shows just to build a major for someone else.
Once again the price of gas is on the rise-
Judges-
1. you already know who is going to win?
2. The people who decide on the judges do not know how to pick complimenting
judges. You have to have judges that like a similar type.
All- breeds- The larger allbreeds have seriously hurt the specialty shows. the
handlers would rather go to a 4-5 day circuit then a 2 day specialty
