Just want to point out that the Aussie PC publication is quarterly, not
monthly. Most PC magazines are quarterly...not all, but a great number
are. And even those are not timely. The ones that come out monthly
certainly are not, either.
I have a friend who publishes a breed magazine. She does it
herself except for one person who helps her part time the few days just
before the magazine goes to the printer. She does a fantastic job, and
gets her 11 issues a year out in a fairly timely fashion...but hers is a
private publication, not a PC one, and she can include or omit anything
she likes. (Note...11 issues a year, not 12)
I hate the REVIEW being late, too, but as someone else said, it's
always been late...at least I can't remember when it wasn't.
As for including more things, like performance stuff...editorial
content has to be balanced by paid advertising, or the magazine will
just continue to go deeper and deeper into the hole. That's ANY
publication. If you want a bigger, more timely, REVIEW, then there will
probably have to be more ads to balance the editorial stuff (that's
anything not paid advertising) AND Gail will have to have a paid staff.
Either that or a bunch of volunteers who will do as they're told, and on
time.
