The word saw can stand alone. The word seen must have another verb before
it;have, had, be,was, are, etc. If one were to be formal, seen is the
PARTicipleform of the verb; therefore, it is only part of a verb and must have
another verbwith it. Saw can never have another verb before it. I'll go one
further; if youare deciding between a verb ending in "n" and one that does
not,
use the oneending in "n" only when there is another verb before it. This is
true in every case,even the most misused, such as rode-ridden,,ate-eaten,
froze-frozen, gave-given,knew-known, shook-shaken, and others when the choice
is
between one that ends in "n" and one that does not.

Penny, I think "lose" is the most misspelled word. I see it all the time
being spelled as "loose". The other most misused word is "seen" for "saw".
Kills when people say "I seen" when it should be " I saw". It has gotten
bad
with the use of "I seen" that even journalist on television are now using
it. I guess they missed that class in college.

A dog can get "loose."
At a party, someone can be "loosey-goosey." (an old time expression,
probably not grammatically correct.)
A worker can "loosen" a screw.
A man or woman can be considered "loose."
HOWEVER:
The Buffalo Bills can "lose" a football game. (They do that regularly.)
A wise guy can "lose" his bad attitude.
The GSDCA can "lose" money.
The membership can "lose" the war.
