Actually Haitians do keep companion animials....saw it on the news tonight....a
big family hanging out with their dog.....a Doctor was trying to help a kid and
the dog was interfering and the Doctor told the family to keep the dog away.
That said....I agree it's BS that any of these organizations are involved in
rescue in Haiti.....ASPCA just sent me an email today......I can't figure out
how to reply to them.

The HSUS, IFAW, ASPCA, WSPA are all lying about the animal situation in
Haiti! Haiti was ravaged by severe storms in 2008, and most of the crops
and livestock were completely wiped out. Over 57% of the population there
is extremely impoverished, and "dumpster diving" for food is essentially the
norm. Over 40% of that country's population consists of children under 14
years of age. Haitians do NOT keep "companion animals" - they can neither
afford them nor sustain them. About the only livestock left in Haiti are
goats, and not many of those...and they are used for food. There are no
"roaming packs of stray dogs." If you have been following the situation as
closely on TV as I have, you will not see animals of any kind. One viewer
finally spotted 1 (yes, ONE) chicken yesterday on CNN.
These urgent pleas to save the animals in Haiti are nothing more than the
latest barrage of LIES from the HSUS, et al, to bankroll themselves even
further. Please cross post the blog link given below widely to try to help
educate people about the true "plight of the animals" in Haiti. What we're
seeing from the HSUS is their standard money-grab. What they're doing is a
crime against mercy itself. Here's a snippet from the blog:
***The ASPCA and HSUS also claimed that there are companion animals. "...a
large stray dog population, an untold number of companion animals." This is
really a tough sell, in an area so poor that scanning trash for food was the
norm. It would be utter suicide for the more than 80 percent of those are
poor in the country to house and feed a companion animal. Approximately 57
percent were deeply impoverished, and the figure is now expected to rise
significantly.
"I didn't see one cat while I was there, and I would have noticed that
because I'm very much a cat person," said James Patrick Jordan, who was in

didn't appear to be a lot of overcrowded factory farming of animals, and
since they weren't, as a rule, confined to buildings that would have fallen
