[ SHOWGSD-L ] kennel cough

My brother received a Pomperan from his daughter last monday that she received
from a rescue shelter.
Thursday the dog developed a dry hacking cough and a sore throat. He took it
to the vet who gave him a script for the sore throat and said that these dogs
have a small windpipe that causes them some problems.
I believe the dog has kennel cough but I do no remember how to treat it. The
dog is three years old and I don't think it would be life threaten to him but
would like to have the cough cleared up.
