I am sure we will eventually know who voted for what and that is important
but, .....
I have been surprised a few times in my life.......
We had a high profile murder in our city at the time I was starting out as a
young police officer. One night I saw a car cruising around the police
station, making several passes, so I stopped the guy and started asking what
he was doing. As I brought to bear my finest interrogation techniques, he
broke down and in tears confessed to the murder. I booked him wrote my
reports, then triumphantly called the Lt. of Detectives out of bed at 3 A.
M. I told him excitedly what I had accomplished and the detailed information
I had extracted from the perpetrator. He started to be angry with me for
calling him, then laughed and said "Kick him loose." I gulped and argued,
and he informed me that this guy studied every high profile case and
confessed to them all. I turned him loose.
I have strong opinions about puppy mills and anything that smacks of less
than the highest and best for these wonderful creatures, but I confess - I
do not know all the facts yet. I will presume that our duly elected board
voted in good faith, until I can establish differently. What I do want to
know is the reasons for the vote. I cannot believe that any of our people
are so wimpy as to vote to avoid a law suit if voting against is the right
thing to do! I cannot believe that we'd respond to a bribe. I cannot believe
that they'd let one powerful personality take away their own strong opinion.
I am just waiting to see the 'why's.' That is most important to me. I can
hold on until I have more information on which to form my own opinion.
In the mean time, I'm enjoying the high drama from others!
