Majority of the votes cast is not the same as the largest number. When
more than 2 people are in the running, votes can be split so no one gets
a majority...with Helen dropping out, unless it were a different sort of
election, those votes could be cast for either candidate...so there has
to be a new election, just for that office. Unless we know what the
number of votes were that were cast for each candidate for VP, it is
conceivable that Jerry could win a new election. If the Helen
supporters continue to split the votes, this could go on for a while.
This is always the case when there are more than 2 people
running...probably why the matter came up at the July Board meeting.
