I would love to tell you it is a long shot but there was a puppy fromt he 6 to
9 bitch class that did it in Washington state this pst weekend and she got a 5
point major. So it is possible.

Many many years ago, a dog was shown in open after he was finished in order
to get breeds and get him to the group. REASON--it used to take a long time
to get your championship confirmation from the AKC. This no longer applies.
Not saying it was right--was very frustrating to the rest of us showing open
