All of my dogs live outside. When I moved, it was either that, or give them up.
I miss them but I don't miss the hair.
I work the usual 40hrs. When they were in the house, they were crated. Now
they
can stretch their legs and even pee if they have too. They have access to
water, which wouldn't happen in a crate.
The kennels are sturdy, enclosed, covered and I might even heat them this year.
When I come home, it's all about them. Nothing gets done until they are walked,
played with, fed. Anywhere they can go they do. Then there is practice,
herding,
swimming. If it's not wet, the tv or book is outside and I'm sitting with them.
If it wasn't for the outdoor kennels, I would no longer have my dogs.
When I can afford to move, I don't know if they would become full time house
dogs again. May not all of them at once (I only have three).
I had to sneak the new puppy in, but I do need her to bond with me and not the
other dogs.
My dogs are pets to me, not kids. They are not livestock either, but I respect
that as well. I take better care of them than some people do their kids.
Some animal advocate asked me why I got dogs from breeders, not rescues. Well
the rescue wouldn't let me adopt a dog when I lived in an apartment. Their
choice. They have to make the decisions they can live with, as we all do.
