Good questions! I only have stairs to the basement, and the dogs don't go down
there. The stairs are carpeted. I keep a Kenmore canister vac down there
because I find it easier to use on the stairs. Having two vacuums is still
worth it to me, however, because of the job the Dyson does on the dog hair. I
am interested to see what people will say about the ball variety. I have the
older one.

WOW! Thanks for all the responses everyone J You are all GREAT!
Still need a couple of opinions before I make the purchase.
Do all the animal upright versions have the extended hose and hand
attachments (for stairs and such) and do you like that feature (does the
hose have easy maneuvering & flexibility)?
Do those that have the 'ball' version like it or do you all prefer the
regular wheel model?

I know this has been discussed before and although I was interested then, I
am now in need! I would really appreciate hearing from any of you who have
purchased a Dyson vacuum (pros & cons) and which model you would recommend
for use in a multi GSD home!
