[ SHOWGSD-L ] "good" breeders

How about getting with other clubs-and putting together a "Master Breeder" 
Designation? Lots of products have the "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval".  
   
  I have the $200 Labrador (Rascal); purchased from a woman I knew as a 
co-worker, that I thought she knew what she was doing.  Rascal will be 5 in 
July.  He has already had a kneecap surgically reattached; is on major drugs 
for seizures, has suffered aspiration pneumonia.  He is a sweetie, but I refer 
to him as the dog from the breeder from hell.  When I called the breeder, just 
to update her; she was still breeding his parents, siblings, etc.  She didn't 
see it as an issue.  We also refer to him as the money pit.  But he is LOVED!
   
  My 2 GSD, came from MO Murkland.  They are healthy, Spunky with be the 8th 
generation that has been ofa'd.  I can travel and show Spunk, cheaper than we 
can keep Rasc in pills and vetbills.  
   
  Seems like to me, all breeds have their issues.  Hip dysplasia "used" to be 
one of German Shepherds, why not get with the other clubs, create what 
constitutes the Master Breeder Criteria, for each breed; pool resources with 
those breeds, advertise, educate; and get rid of "backyard breeders, Walmart 
parking lot sellers, puppy mills, etc.  When there isn't a demand, those 
business will close!
