I have tilted at this windmill for years now. It started when I was on the Futurity Committee and I am getting to the point where I am going to stop fighting. Let's limit the Futurity to one region, send the winner to the National, and you won't even have to judge him or her, just give them the award. The regional Futurities let new people see our breed, and bigger classes do nothing other than show off more dogs. In a national sense, the entry will be smaller, and if I didn't have a fairly close regional show, I would just not bother to nominate a litter. If I had to travel to a Futurity each year, I would just not enter, and save my money for points. But, if the decision is to eliminate regions, I would probably save a lot of money. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
