Because, years ago, there were problems with people trashing
hotels<surprise, surprise!>, but because the hotels were not designated as
"official", there was nothing AKC could do(ie: fines &
suspensions)..."official" complaints and charges can only be filed for
actions on the show grounds and "officially designated" locations...
The solution determined by the Board at that time (probably 15+ years ago)
was to designate the most convenient hotels(where most folks would stay) as
"official hotels"...if someone stays at a hotel not listed and trashes it,
there really isn't much the Board can do (officially)...
