You are fortunate to have this vet ----- there are just too many out there that don't know anything about breeding, whelping, and what can happen with 'nervous' bitches. Cheers, Sylvia I won't have puppies without liquid amoxycillin in the house. I may not need it, but I want it because by the time I realize I need it..... I want momma on antibiotics right away. I'm not a huge user of antibiotics, but delivering puppies is hard and less than sanitary and who knows if a bitch has a rip or a tear someplace or even a small piece of placenta left. Then, watching her pottying puppies, cleaning herself, then the babies....now, urine is sterile, but fecal matter isn't, so for me, this is a time for antibiotics and bene-bac (so that nobody gets diarrhea from antibiotics.)
