[ SHOWGSD-L ] dye and drugs

Hurrah for Kathy. Hope this will start a move to correct this.
Judges' hands are tied. They cannot DQ for drugs or dye because
they cannot prove it. AKC will not allow testing so that leaves
the whole problem in a bucket.
At the national SELECT is neither an AKC event nor an AKC title.
There must be some way we could get those dogs tested. They are
chosen after best of breed, therefore, after the show and not part
of it. Select excellent has restrictions as does award of excellence.
Seems we should be able to give SELECT a strong measure of integrity.
If all select dogs were tested after the show, I'll wager more would
depend on their breeding programs than the Clairol bottle.
