For herding, I like Indian Runners and Kaki Campbells (Kaki Cambell crosses are very popular & common). Mallards are okay for herding but in my experience have been more abusive to each other than the other breeds. I would not use any of the "meat" ducks (such as Pekings) for herding because they tire easily and then just lay down and give up. I *loathe* call ducks.
