One piece of advise on doubling. If you think you can run fast enough to
keep in front of the dog and handler then the dog probably isn't worth showing.
There is never a reason to double a dog when you are behind him. Dogs don't
move very well looking over their shoulder. Don't get ears until the handler
has finished posing the dog. If the dog is moving at a beautiful gate don't
feel the need to double even more.If you need to disappear from your dog just
stand still they will not be able to find you if you were moving.A loud noise
made over and over just bores the dogs after a very short period of time. It
also drives most of the other people nuts! Dogs are more beautiful walked into
a stack and not hand set. A win picture is no time to start a tug of war with
the dog. While doubling smile and be happy if you are happy the dog will be
more relaxed. TC

This is a great post and 100% right.

Dogs WALKED into a pose always look better.......but getting a handler to do
it is not easy.
Work out a deal with your handler.....if they will pose the dog more
natural....you will double
the dog better. <G> If necessary buy different treats for your handler
to encourage him.

Do not try to run in front of the dog to keep it going........you will not
win that race.....EVER!
In a bind.....hide behind another double handler who is doing it right. <G>

Do not frustrate the dog by calling him over and over and over. Please pay
attention to
the world from his point of view.......HE HAS A CHOKE CHAIN AROUND HIS THROAT
and a strong armed handler on the end of his leash and he CANNOT COME TO
YOU!!!
You are only frustrating the dog to the point of shut down.

ALWAYS meet your dog at the ready ring with lots of praise.....he worked hard
to get to
that spot where you last patted him.......give him lots of pets for finding
you again. YOU
may not deserve it.....but he doesn't care about the judge, the handler the
ribbon or the
points......all he knows is you have been calling him and disappearing and he
finally found
you so you will quit ringing that bell and running away from him. Your dog
is concerned
that you may never get trained correctly............<G>
