You judge what you see.
As a judge you have to decide what the structure of the dog is. You can do
that when the dog is on a loose lead, some can do it when the dog is pulling,
some when the dog is slow, and some, never, no matter what the dog does.
If you want to double your dog, then you risk the judge seeing something
displeasing, and perhaps your dog looking better. Some handlers want the dog
pulling and perhaps for a good reason.
I don't much care if a dog is doubled under me. I try to see what the
muscles are doing, what the structure is, and how the dog moves. If the
shoulder
isn't there, you can double, slow down, pull like crazy or do anything else, it
isn't there.
Don't think all judges are so stupid that they are being fooled. Most of
them judge the dog, double handling isn't going to stop a good judge from
seeing
what is going on.
The reason the AKC is so down on it, is it is something easy to criticize.
The reason they don't make a rule against it, is that there are so many ways to
do it, and not be detected.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
