Perhaps it would be helpful to know that due to the many puppies sent in from
China and Russia to our US Market and the poor health and condition of some of
these as of 2 and 1/2 weeks ago the USDA has stepped in and has taken charge of
the clearing and importation of such shipments. The reason we know is that we,
as IPATA, USDA Registered, TSA Registered Live Animal Relocation folks, even
with the above credentials, we CAN NO LONGER CLEAR THROUGH CUSTOMS AND PICK UP
PUPPIES AT ANY AIRPORTS THROUGHOUT THIS COUNTRY WHICH WE USED TO DO ON A
REGULAR BASIS. . The USDA has taken charge of inspecting and clearing any such
shipments AND will no longer allow Commercial shipments of this nature BE
CLEARED WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND INSPECTION and THROUGH A COMMERCIAL
LICENSED BROKER. Bear in mind that Lis Brokers are REQUIRED to take 2 years of
schooling, are subject to heavy, heavy fines, including prison if they attempt
to circumvent the Customs Laws. These are the same Brokers that handle
chemicals, firearms, contaminated materials, hazardous material, human remains
etc. The Licensed broker is also required to update schooling on a regular
basis, the license can be revoked at the first small infraction. It is highly
doubtful that a Broker would risk all to illegally clear imported commercial
shipments of live cargo containing dogs and cats.
After inspection by USDA and a large fee, if the young dog or cat is proven
to be owned by a private individual we can then take possession from the Broker
and turn over to the owner or arrange for movement into another State. It is
doubtful that Hunte Corporation is importing for resale on a pet shop basis.
