Now, before all of you loose your respective minds, DROP or HOUND ears are a
dominant trait nad PRICK ears are a recessive! Breed any dog to a hound and
ALL the ears in the litter will be hound! Learned that in my very first
genetics class in college.

I cannot remember the name of the book by the vet who experimented on
hundreds of dogs, every breed you could think of, to determine dominants and
recessives. It was fascinating and heartbreaking, as he euthanized many bitches
right after breeding to learn what happens to the sperm....(within 20 seconds
they were at the cervix!) Anyway, down ears are dominant to prick ears, curly
tails are dominant to straight tails, etc. Hundreds of breedings including
such bizarre matings as chihuahuas to great danes, etc. Syd
