So sad, isn't it?  I know we will all get slammed for this but, horses as 
well as my german shepherds are my life...can't help it!

the past?  Not funny ha ha...funny like in coincidence.......

   and yes, we didn't do serious work with hunter prospects until they were
mature....read 4 years old...and most open jumpers
are a good bit older than that................but races have always been for
horses from the age of 2......there aren't even many
graded stakes for horses that are "aged."  Most don't last on the track to
become old...........the exceptions are always noted......
so you know it's rare.
       I did notice there were a couple of "mature" mares running in the La
Troienne, tho...and the winner was not a youngster...
oh well.
