Two experiences with coyotes : one in Austin, Texas was when my daughter's Corgi was in season. The poor guy just hung out at her pen the whole time, grinned when they came out of the house, never even ran off until the fragrance dispersed. The other encounter was in the fifties. I was doing some obedience training at a kennel in Midland, Texas. A client brought in a coyote to be trained. Actually, he did quite well, although I would never have trusted him off leash. He could have competed in the on leash excercises. In the beginning of my relationship with him, it was a bit disconcerting to hear him hissing between barred teeth. After awhile, I realized this was a sign of affection, much like our shepherd's whining. But it was quite scary at first.
