The proximal point of the sternum is actually called the manubrium in dogs, in 
the veterinary profession anyway.

In response to the cyst on the young dog-draining will do nothing, it will 
continue to fill with fluid.  The only way to get rid of a cyst is to remove 
the entire cystic lining via surgery.  If any piece of the cyst is left behind, 
it will recur.
