I agree Chris. I have never and will never have an issue co-owning. I co-own
with those I trust and those I consider part of my friend-family. The stories
I hear about co-ownership issues, fighting, lawsuits etc are beyond ridiculous.
Those are people that I am betting have issues in many other areas of their
lives - work, social, etc. and those aren't the people I chose to surround
myself with and certainly not co-own with. I would never put a dog, splitting
a litter, or money over the importance of a relationship with a friend I care
about. If it even started to turn into that I would simply say "ok" and let it
be. Unfortunately there are obviously a lot of dog show people that do not
have it in them to do that. Too much ego or just simply too selfish. I don't
hear as much about people suing each other as I used to. There are people who
have more experience than I do with that...those who have been involved in many
many lawsuits. <vbg> Not sure what they get out of it in the end, win or lose.

van brings up an interesting point.� I too have heard of some horrendous
o-ownership stories, and AKC actually recommends not doing co-ownerships.�
BUT,
or me personally, I've had good experiences.� I have been fortunate
n�co-owning dogs with great people, and I too, find it enjoyable to share in
he joy of the wins, as well as the thrill of titles, breedings and puppies down
he road.� I could not do all that I do & have done with the dogs if it were
not
or some of the great co-owners I've had.
here are some people/personalities that should not co-own dogs, and hopefully,
hose individuals stay away from co-ownerships.� :)

Times� like this make me appreciate what it must feel like to be a�

I was thinking this morning, something that is always dangerous for� me.�
I have been involved in so many fights over co-ownerships for clients, and�
so many of the German shepherd people contact me to sue other exhibitors or
breeders. It often is on the List that there are problems with co-owners.
The� AKC has a department that deals with fights over co-owners.� I talked
to� the AKC yesterday about a problem for a client.
Yet, my experience has been nothing but fantastic. We have co-owned with�
Paula, Twyla, and even Summer's family.� We have never had a problem, and�
now we have a dog we co-owned until he finished, Icon.� Nothing could have�
been greater than to co-own with the Drapers who worked so hard for the�
championship on Icon. They have allowed us to share in that fun, and they
did�
all the work.
I wonder if we should just give more credit to the co-owner, instead of�
trying to find a way to claim glory for ourselves.� I have never found a�
co-owner to be a problem, but rather they take on the burden, and do nothing
ut
good things for us and our dogs.
Perhaps I have just been lucky, but I think having a co-owner is the best�
way to share the good times, and make more friends.� I think I would
rather�
co-own a super-star, than to do it on my own.� It just makes it more� fun.
Maybe that is just me, but why not enjoy with others?
