I read often on this list about "conditioning" the dog for shows and also I hear of "roadwork". What is roadwork? Is this jogging with the dog, walking, biking? If so, how far and how often? What age do you start doing this? Does it affect their structural growth or do you wait until the growth plates are closed? Is the roadwork done year round or is swimming substituted in summer? I can't show my guy but if 'roadwork' keeps him in top condition, I would like to learn more about it. What other methods do list members use to keep their dogs in top condition? While my guys look really nice to me, I don't think they could do the 20km trot that used to be required in my father's day.
