So lets get some definition around these terms
I for one consider a
Puppy Mill, an individual(s) that breed many litters and typically multiple
breeds. Their one and only GOALl: SELL MASS QUANTITIES OF PUPPIES
BYB, on the other hand is an individual who breeds female to the male down
the block. Typically not affiliated with any dog organization
GOAL: Wants kids to see the miracle of life, or wants a son or daughter of
their incredible pet. Couple of extra bucks
Professional Breeders. Usually affiliated with one or more breed clubs,
usually has signed one or more "Codes of Ethics". Made up of both large and
small kennels. GOAL: Breed Quality dogs based on the breed
standard with an effort to improve the Breed
