The Board members did not receive Jamie's updated Breeder's Code of Ethics
prior to the Board meeting and consequently had no time to review it prior to
the discussion taking place. Reports are supposed to be received 2 weeks
before the Board meeting so Board members have time to read and consider them.
There was not enough time to thoroughly discuss it in the meeting and an
ad-hoc committee was appointed to go over some of the wording and come back to
the Board.
I am currently working on how we can change the membership application and
the by-laws to prevent this from happening again. You might check some other
parent club web sites for how they handle membership applications and Code of
ethics (most seem to combine a code of ethics with a breeder's code). Some
of them have very stringent requirements.
