  Grace,
  >It IS allergies and his body's way of trying to get rid of toxins that can
show in many forms, itching, red skin, paw licking, blotchy skin, hot spots,
ear infections, runny goop eyes and on and on.
  >If this was my dog he would be changed 'immediately' to whole raw meat with
bone in .
something like Chicken halves or leg quarters which has the perfect balance
of meat & bone are excellent for starters.

No small parts especially like wings or necks unless they are still attached
to the bird.

Dogs are carnivores and are supposed to eat prey-like food , not over
processed bacteria laden cattle fodder in a bag. aka crap in a bag.
  >
If it is such pure food as claimed by the manufacturer , ask your own good
common sense why it does not rot in the bag ???

Look at the canine skeletal head structure and teeth. You will not find any
tools there for grinding grains and grasses.

Instead you will find lovely strong white tools for [1]tearing (canines)
[2],pulling (incisors), [3]cutting & sawing ( spaced premolars) and [4]
crushing and smashing ( large rear molars) .

Their system cannot process vegetables or grains it puts a great overload on
the liver and pancreas which eventually can turn to pancreatitis, diabeties and
other maladies.

Just because Rover tolerates what you feed does not mean it is good inside.
  >
What does tolerate mean anyway ? TO suffer in silence. As with a baby they
can not tell you what is wrong, or their head or joints hurt , etc.
  >
Vets that are indoctrinated to not be 'raw' friendly will give you just
another processed food and drugs.
  >
Instead of addressing the cause they merely mask the symptoms while asking
you to feed the same damn food that is causing the problems.

To me this is NOT hearsay, I live the raw feeding way for all my carnivores.

  Good luck,

Someone who bought a pup from me two years ago called me today and told me
her dog is having problems with his skin on his belly and groin area. He has
black, tarry splotches that are wartlike. It has been going on about 6 months.
She recently switched to a duck and potatoe food that is helping the splotches
go away. He has been on the new food almost 6 weeks. I asked her if it could be
an external problem since it seems to located on the underside of him. She said
he is itchy everywere but he splotches are on the underside. I askedif it was
hotspots, she said no, her vet thought it was an allergy problem. Anyone ever
experience somthing like this????
