Adolf's meat tenderizer will NOT help a dog or a human with pancreatic
insufficiency! Adolf's is used to break down complex proteins(collagen)in
meat. (Collagen is what holds meat together and makes it tough to chew.) Meat
tenderizers are composed of protease enzymes which are plant enzymes.
Typically Bromelain and Papain.
In pancreatic insufficiency, the pancreas no longer produces the enzymes that
are necessary for the body to digest FATS. The body is still able to digest
proteins. Fats and proteins are *not* one and the same. The body does not
digest them in the same way.
Biokase and Viokase contain the enzymes Lipase, Protease and Lipase. These are
the enzymes required to digest fats. They are porcine in origin. They do not
come from plants.
One can give a dog with EPI Adolf's until the cows come home and it will never
help digest fats! IF any Lister is thinking of switching from Biokase/Viokase
to Adolf's because it's cheaper, please do not do so. You will only be harming
your dog!

All I can tell you is that Vikase breaks down the meat, and many years ago
when we were told to use it, (an it has to be over 30 years now), we tried
Adolphs, and found it did the exact same thing. I don't know if there is a
difference in the products, I only know I have heard from others who have
had the same results.
I haven't seen Viokase in our medicine supplies for years, perhaps we are
just lucky.
