Thank you Ken for bringing this information to me. I doubt I am the only one
who didn't know; I was just in the members only section checking on that
yesterday... Wondering as I knew from the Colorado papers, a date had come
and gone recently. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything available to the
average Joe member, and to those many GSDCA members are not on this list.
In effort for better member communication, (this is for y'all who
count) would it not be a good idea to have a GSDCA membership group list?
(Sorry listers who are not GSDCA members, no offense meant). One where
issues could be easily presented to the ENTIRE membership for open
discussion. I for one, am saddened that the club even bothered to spend the
time and money without even figuring that the membership would like to vote
on issues separately, or when applicable, together (such as liver/blue and
the not-black nose); just for example.
Then, little people like myself might know what happened concerning the WDA
suit/s; being a person who has done both conformation and working dog sport,
I'd sure like to know.
I wonder what went wrong that the GSDCA owes the GSDCA-WDA money when GSDCA
footed the bill, and there was a written contract? I'm not pointing fingers
(really I'm not) but perhaps that got lost with previous years'
accounting? I understand the GSDCA is a large organization, but, with a
CPA, how hard could it be? I was treasurer for a club, a volunteer position
as well, yet always managed to get through the whole mess all in a timely
manner with complete transparency to the club members, and I'm just an
average dummy with a pen and good at math. Member responsibility and
general membership's input is sorely needed concerning our club's viability.
We NEED to fix any problems before we run out of money... We (as the general
membership) NEED to be heard when the club is thinking of making major
decisions/changes.... and these things need to happen or else the club cease
to be for the next generations.
I think most the members here would like to be more involved with the club's
workings- at least if only to have their voice heard... One's bright idea
could make money and another's save money that would never been thought of
by just only a few heads. If the general membership was given any say in
the responsibilities of the club, perhaps the average member would feel more
responsible to the club, and therefore the breed too?
