Good option! Didn't realize that Atlanta was so close to Charlotte.
The airlines that I checked previously from Reno no longer flew direct
to Atlanta - didn't know they started that route up again. In fact when
I got together a check list for the Nationals to come to Reno for Debbie
that was the final reason it couldn't be held here was because the route
was being cancelled - AGAIN.

I am not complaining about the flights - just thought since Sharon asked
I would go over my situation a little. (It is all about ME right<LOL>)
A lot of people are in similar shoes and thought it would be interesting
to go over the different situations. If I CAN go and I have a dog that
should be there I WILL FIND A WAY! Just like I did to Oregon, Canada a
few times, St. Louis, etc. It is not easy for everyone - it just should
be for MOST and find it's way around the country to be fair.

I did just complain a little about having to make the connecting flight
for Canada. It is scary!

PS: <while wearing my flame proof suit> Funny how many east coasters
found it more difficult to find the non stop with a couple hours drive
to the Oregon Nationals when us west coasters have to figure this out
all the time.

OK I'm going to go get some work done now and go back to lurking!

Okay, I truly am DONE after this.....

For $321.90 total, you can get a nonstop flight from Reno to Atlanta on
Monday, 31October, returning to Reno on Sunday, 6November. It's a 4
hour drive from Atlanta to Charlotte (shorter than your 5 1/2 hour drive
to San Francisco, plus you wouldn't have to pay to park your car for a
week at the SF airport). The flight times even work out
well.....putting you into Atlanta in the middle of the afternoon so you
can drive to Charlotte that day and you wouldn't be flying out of
Atlanta back to Reno until Sunday evening, so you'd have plenty of time
to get there from Charlotte. Personally, I'd do the connecting flight,
but if you decide that you absolutely don't want to do a connecting
flight, then look at this option. This is a Delta flight and is only
$321.90 (including all taxes and fees).

My point *IS* that if you LOOK, there are reasonable options available!!

P.S. Just out of curiosity, why don't people ever complain about flying
to the Canadian national?

These are one stop flights and cause the time to rise by a couple hours.
I really hate that for the dogs. 2 hours waiting for the flight, then
the flight of 5 hours and to add another 2 hours on layover with being
switched doesn't appeal to me. I would rather drive them 5 1/2 hours
and be able to have a non-stop so there is a little more control and I
always stop a few times for them to get out, stretch and potty. The
non-stop from SF is $518.

Switching planes for the Canadian Nationals was really hard on me and my
girl. I was a nervous wreck with all the stories I've heard about
losing dogs when switching planes - who cares about the baggage they
lose all the time. I could hear her screaming under the plane when we
stopped. :'( The baggage handlers didn't know what to do with her and I
ended up trying to calmly talk to the flight attendant into having them
leave her ALONE!

Now the hard part - convincing my husband that I NEED to buy the plane
ticket 9 months in advance for (NOT JUST ANOTHER TO ME) another dog show
that I am not sure I can even attend yet<G>.
