These are one stop flights and cause the time to rise by a couple hours.
I really hate that for the dogs. 2 hours waiting for the flight, then
the flight of 5 hours and to add another 2 hours on layover with being
switched doesn't appeal to me. I would rather drive them 5 1/2 hours
and be able to have a non-stop so there is a little more control and I
always stop a few times for them to get out, stretch and potty. The
non-stop from SF is $518.
Switching planes for the Canadian Nationals was really hard on me and my
girl. I was a nervous wreck with all the stories I've heard about
losing dogs when switching planes - who cares about the baggage they
lose all the time. I could hear her screaming under the plane when we
stopped. :'( The baggage handlers didn't know what to do with her and I
ended up trying to calmly talk to the flight attendant into having them
leave her ALONE!
Now the hard part - convincing my husband that I NEED to buy the plane
ticket 9 months in advance for (NOT JUST ANOTHER TO ME) another dog show
that I am not sure I can even attend yet<G>.

Keep in mind that these are prices quoted today for flights the week of
31October to November 6th. The national is a long way off. Prices
could go down
or go up. There are no "specials" right now for that time period. If
you
wait, you could get lucky. However, there may also be no seats
available when
you want to fly. It's a gamble either way. You may also be able to
get
additional discounts from the GSDCA or organizations to which you
belong.
Carolyn :-), I did NOT "work my butt off" finding these flights :-).
These
particular flights are on Delta. I personally love U.S. Air and have
**NEVER** had a dog & crate weighed when I've flown U.S. Air with the
dog, that
includes internationally where the weight requirement is lower before
"they"
charge more.
Whether people choose to go to the national or not is up to them. I
just
want it to be obvious that IS possible....I'm done now.

the
week before or the week after the BC national so I can go to both of
them :-)
