I have never used aol for email but I did hook up with their free instant
messenger as I have lots of friends across the country who use it and it was
great to be able to "chat" with them. At some point, though, AOL simply took
over my computer. I could not do anything with it at all. My husband had to
get on the phone with my server and spent quite a while going through and
deleting AOL wherever it was hidden. After that experience, I am quite leery
of it.
