Oh, you said it. Wolf hybreds are not for the faint of heart at all. I happen
to have a pure bred southwestern wolf living somewhere nearby. This one could
not have survived a pack. He rolls over upon approach. No wolf pack would
bother to feed such a submissive dog. So, for him, he is lucky to have humans
for his pack. He lives with a couple and their 12 year old son. I see them
often with the parents in the front seat the wolf and child in back, just like
a dog. And he loves to look out the window, just like a dog.
These people have had a wolf in their lives for years, and they know what
they are doing, including risking all kinds of legal problems. They live in a
county the specifically restricts wolf ownership as an exotic and requires
special licensing. They have none.
But I will never tell. He is a great dog, as wolves go.

This is untrue... at least in the case of wolf hybrids. There was a study
done in MI (can't remember where exactly) that showed that Wolf and Dog DNA is
virtually identical. I strongly suspect that they would find the same with
the Coyote, though no study exists that I am aware of.
And it is PROVEN that oral rabies vaccine does have an effect on raccoon
populations. They have programs in the Northeast that drop oral vaccine laced
food for wild raccoons. Not that you'll ever see a "hybrid" raccoon, LOL!
That said, in general I do NOT believe most people should have Wolf hybrids.
They are not dogs, and respond differently to training, etc. They have a
MUCH, MUCH strong "pack" instinct. Dogs are bad enough with that, LOL! And
we all know how the average pet owner has so many problems with just DOG pack
structure!
On the same token I do NOT support GOVERNMENT banning them.
