Children and most adults are not capable of reading body language of K9s. We have as some know, an Ovtcharka, 30 inches , over 100lbs at a year old. She is what she is. We know this is a dog (livestock guardian) bred to "neutralize" wolves, bears, lions, and people if necessary around it's territory that it sees as a threat. We NEVER, EVER allow her to be unsupervised with a child , any child, or an adult that is not an EXPERIENCED dog person, for any reason, for any amt of time. Her play, still being a puppy can quickly turn rough. Her instinct to subdue and dominate are deeply rooted in her DNA, and in her behavior. We know this, we have seen it, and we are very VERY careful with her. Now having said that, around the kids (well supervised) she is very gentle and loving, and furry and silly. She will drop to her belly and 'commando crawl " across the livingroom floor to wherever Kaitlyn is, and will turn over on her side and reach, gently for Kaitlyn with one of her massive paws. She is capable of incredible deftness , gentleness and ituition, she is also capable of the unthinkable. OWNERS,& PARENTS MUST BE ACCOUNTABLE....DOGS THAT BITE SMALL CHILDREN SHOULD BE PUT DOWN. But that is my opinion. Mine only, for what it is worth. Kathy Tank > > -- > http://www.victorygermanshepherds.com > Ch.
