When I weaned my litters I usually started out between 3 to 4 weeks
depending on mom and her desire to nurse and how many pups there are. My
combination was the Gerber rice cereal, goats milk, and Gerber's baby food,
usually
lamb. Initially I would mix the combination (mostly milk to cereal to a
bottle of lamb) to a consistancy of a very liquid gravy and warm it to touch,
and then as they got older to a thicker consistancy (more cereal and lamb)
at room temp, just not ice cold. Hope that helps. By the way I used one
of those stainless steel flying saucer pans that had a raised center so it
did help them from walking through their food, because once they start on this
formula they go crazy for it.
