I'm not a breeder nor a show-er (to differentiate from a shower, which is wet) 
so I may be confused on the way a dog becomes the #1 Stud dog... Isn't it tied 
to the futurity system? Meaning the #1 stud dog is the one with the most 
successful futurity entered puppies? 

Thus the #1 stud dog means 'dog who sired the most winners'. That (imo) is not 
really looking to the future of the breed, just the future of winning. If you 
want a dog to win, then that might be the stud dog to look at.

ROM... again, a reward for creating the most winners. Points may be earned for 
dogs earning performance or companion titles, so it may be better at molding 
the dog of the future. 

AOE... a winning dog, with certified hips & elbows, a temperament certificate & 
a performance or companion title. As an important producer of the future, a ROM 
with a bunch of performance/companion titled dogs shows me the dog can 
reproduce something trainable. The AOE proves the dog himself was trainable.  

GV/BIS... frosting on the cake. ;-)Granted, it's a biiiiig cake & very 
delicious frosting. Nothing to sneeze at. Unless you 'hate' the dog or the 
judge who pointed at the dog or the handler of the dog or, or, or.... then 
sneeze away.
