He's not out of the woods yet...so don't start celebrating. Regrowing a hoof is a tricky business because it not only has to grow out, it has to be strong enough to support his weight....not just standing still, but moving around...it's tricky enough that most horses who founder aren't even given the chance......... we had a gorgeous chestnut colt in our barn at one time whose stupid owner bought him, cut him, and tossed him into a truck to be shipped to us...over 1000 miles.........of course, the colt foundered in two feet........we did give him a chance to regrow his hooves.........and they grew, but they were never right.........and the colt was useless, of course..........so had to be put down............
