For safety, the board should have legal advice to make it retroactive so
that there are no questions raised. I understand Kris will be on the
committee,
and so this should be a simple thing to enact. Clearly some of the club
members feel strongly about allowing membership to people who traffic in
puppies.
The California sentencing rules were just declared illegal by the United
States Supreme Court. Carrie and I represented a man for attempted murder.
Three years ago, the judge gave him the maximum penalty, and now, with this
decision his sentence must be reduced. By making a law that says a system is
invalid, it also applies to those who went before.
A by-law change has to be voted on by the club members. This should be your
chance to have a say in whom is in your club.
