Thanks Ed! LOL I am not permitted to run for 2 or 3 more years, but
will when eligible. In the meantime I am attempting to help the club as
much as I can and encouraging (actually begging) board members to make
decisions that will help our club bring in and encourage younger folks, get
current with the times regarding social media, technology, etc, as well as
marketing ourselves and events better. It is extremely difficult to get a
Board made up of people who won't embrace what they don't easily understand
(i.e. technology, social media) and when they don't understand something,
then nothing moves forward. We have SOOOOO many wonderfully talented
intelligent younger people. I could go on and on about them (Matt
McMillan, Channing Sheets, Ariel Cassista, Nancy Godek-McDonald, Kelly
Foehl, etc etc etc). We cannot wait 10 or 20 years to get them involved.
If there is anything I do for this club in my life, it will be to get
some of these people more involved, agreeing to run for the Board, and the
membership to vote them in. It may take a couple of years, but this will
happen....

Interesting account regarding what younger folks do or do not have time
for. Have you or the Board asked any younger people and been turned down?
Is there a history of younger folks vocalizing that they just cannot help

Going to shows every weekend and speaking with people as well as
communicating through social media, I find the opposite to be true. Our
club has a history of NOT asking younger folks for their input and opinions
and not wanting them to be involved. There is a history of the "good ol
boys" mentality and embracing of change, new ideas, technology, etc are not
embraced. So, as someone who falls at the cusp of younger/older, please
do not speak for me (or them). There are many educated, intelligent
younger people who have wonderful ideas, great energy, and are ignored.
They want to be involved, but have been told no, wait your turn, pay your
dues.
Trust me, I know.... I was told this many times over the past 2
decades...
