And I believe that's where they come from. That is a great statement. Some times they do let personal agendas get in the way, but overall they try to do what is best. A board member may not agree with what the members want. He/she may not agree with what the majority of the board wants. He/she may have an idea that no one else agrees with, but may fight passionately to get that idea in place. This last board meeting one member was very much against the Youth Recognition Fund. There may have been personal reasons, but the rest of the board voted to go with the program. We are getting funds together now; and again, I would appreciate anyone who wants to encourage the future of our breed, to donate. The first year the contribution will be small, but then I intend to seek commercial donations and hope to make it a more meaningful amount beginning in 2013. I welcome and thank all the board members for the hard work they do. If they disagree with me, I have no problem with that. If they fight for something they believe in, for whatever reason, then they are doing what they were elected to do. When I was on the board, I introduced the weighted ballot and it passed. It took three readings, because after it was read twice as required by the by-laws, Ralph Roberts insisted on a third time as he didn't want it. I introduced the reserves from the Futurities to go to the National, to give a larger class, and because some of the dogs are not mature at the local shows, it passed. I was against the OFA class at the national, I failed to stop it, and we had it for a few years. As a board member you win some, and you lose some. But, above all, you give up your time, your energy, and your freedom to fight for what you think is right. For that we should respect and thank all of the board members and recognize what they do for us. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Evan L.
