Breed the dog to a bitch with DM and blood test the progeny. If you have
any progeny test positive for DM
the dog was not free of DM. If all the progeny are free of DM and carriers
only....the dog was free of DM. A dog free of the long coast gene does not
produce a long coat, a dog free of the
DM gene does not produce DM.
