YES, Pam, that is 100% true...but, the AKC isn't the Only reason to do it. The
POSSIBILITY your dog runs away or gets loose at a show, or is stolen..(show dog
or not)... those are the reasons to Chip your dog. I know..I know..there are
going to be those that say, well, what if the person that finds that dog
doesn't take it to a vet or shelter to be scanned..what good is it? I'd rather
have the percent being in my favor.... THEREFORE... We should ALL teach every
person you sell a dog to, or even you just talk to them about their dog,
mention to them about chipping. It is the best $35 I've ever spent. I take
the bar codes and place one on the AKC paperwork, AKC said that was OK, and
then I make a copy of the AKC paperwork for my Records even before I send a dog
off.
Please..Let's all think about teaching others. Be Nice, Kind, and yet Get the
Message Across. Neuter your dog, Chip your dog, LOVE your dog.

The AKC requires that if you have over 6 dogs on your premises, that they MUST
have positive ID (Other than DNA) such as a tatoo or a chip after 6 months of
age.
